Tick what you've noticed
Most dogs never yelp or limp. They just slow down, and the back end usually goes first.
Ticked two or more? That is the stiffness the vest is made for.

With the vest
Four everyday wins owners describe, and how the vest helps with each one.
The vest lays its LEDs along the spine and hips (plus a belly panel on Medium and Large), so red and near-infrared light reaches the stiff spots while they doze.
“this helped him to get to his water and out the doggie door”
Near-infrared (850 nm) travels deeper than red, toward the muscle and tissue around the hips that make them pause before the jump.
“She has been running like a puppy.”
One 20 minute session every evening, so they start the day looser instead of warming up halfway round the block.
“Love that I can do this at home as well as at vet's.”
Low-power LEDs, no UV, 3 brightness levels and an automatic stop. It feels like soft warmth, so most dogs settle in next to you.
“He gets a massage after the treatment and he just melts like butter.”
How the vest works
Stiffness starts deep in the muscles and joints, where tired cells run low on energy and blood flow slows down. The vest puts red and near-infrared light right against the back and hips, and that light is what researchers study for cell energy, circulation and comfort.
1. The light goes in
Every LED rests against the back. Red light (660 nm) is absorbed near the skin, and near-infrared (850 nm) travels deeper toward muscle and joints.
2. Cells turn it into energy
The mitochondria, each cell's power plants, absorb this light. Lab studies show they then make more ATP, the fuel cells use for upkeep and repair.
3. Blood flow picks up
Light also frees nitric oxide, which relaxes small blood vessels so more oxygen and nutrients reach stiff tissue.
4. What you can notice
Looser muscles, calmer naps and easier get-ups. Short daily sessions add up, which is how the studies used light.
The science
Vets and rehab clinics use red and near-infrared light, called photobiomodulation. Petciety brings the same two kinds of light home in gentle LEDs that face the body.

Less limping and lower pain scores after 6 weeks of light, compared with dogs given a switched-off light.

"The strongest evidence we have right now is for musculoskeletal issues, specifically osteoarthritis."

Lower pain and easier movement in dogs with stiff hips, with range of motion still improving at day 90.

"Across all the recent trials for arthritis, ear infections and skin issues, we almost never see adverse events reported."
Wand vs vest
Held above the coat, a wand lights one small spot and loses most of it in the fur. The vest lays every LED against the spine and hips at once.

The whole back at once
Medium and Large have a back panel and a belly panel (168 LEDs on Large). Small has one 60-LED back panel and a belly strap.

Stays put when they shift
Side-release buckles and an adjustable belly strap keep the panels in place while they turn over.

Put it on while they nap. The side-release buckles click shut and the belly strap holds the panels in place when they shift. Calm and lying down works far better than chasing them around.
No shaving. On thick, double or dark coats, part the fur under the panel so the LEDs sit close to the skin. Short coats can go straight on.
With the USB cable, between sessions, so it is ready for tomorrow evening.
Only if the legs are stiff too. The vest covers the back, hips and, on Medium and Large, the belly. Leg Wraps reach the elbows, knees and ankles, and each one is $25 off with a vest.
Yes, once a day. Keep the first evenings short and on low brightness, then let the timer end the session.
